GREETINGS AND A HAPPY 2023
Our 47th Annual Tournament is
fast approaching. This year we have 38 teams, (6
divisions), signed up for the Tournament. As is the case,
every year, I sat down with my staff to figure out what teams should
play in the different divisions. We have placed each
team in what we feel is the proper spot for them using a system proven
successful over the years.
As usual, the winner may go up
one division, while teams that are totally outclassed will usually go
down.
Game time scheduling was done
as fair as possible with the teams farther away being given some
consideration, as has been our policy.
All team representitives should have received an email with multiple documents, including the schedule for your division. Please check at the registration desk upon arrival for any possible changes.
Westwood Arena has 5 ice surfaces under one roof with
a snack bar, a complete sports shop with skate sharpening facilities and
equipment at reasonable rates.
THERE IS TO BE NO
BEER OR SMOKING IN DRESSING ROOMS.
We have a large glassed-in
gallery lounge overlooking rinks 1 & 2 with the sale of beer and food
each day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: THAT NO BEER CAN BE TAKEN OUT OF THIS
ROOM AND NO PERSONAL BEER CAN BE BROUGHT IN. I would like
all coaches and managers to explain this to their teams prior to
arrival. Our laws are very strict about this, and we do not want any
difficulty with our liquor inspectors who will surely be at the arena at
some time.
We would appreciate your team
support of the beer lounge, as profits are going to charity. This is a
great meeting place.
Each team will play 3 games, and
then the final stats will be taken in each division. The top 4 teams in
each division will go on to play Thursday.
OVERTIME FORMAT: 3 0N
3 (NHL RULES) STOP TIME TILL A GOAL IS SCORED.
In the event of a tie in the standings, refer to the rules & regulations enclosed. We play under Hockey Canada rules, and these will be STRICTLY enforced. We have a great body of referees who do an excellent job, so PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR TEAM, ALL OF YOUR PLAYERS AND COACHES ETC. ARE AWARE OF ALL RULES, as well as other details pertaining to the tournament. Ignorance of these rules WILL NOT be a valid excuse in event of a problem situation. This letter should be READ as well as RULES very carefully and all players made aware of all details
***NOTE*** A
TOURNAMENT ROSTER WAIVER MUST BE FILLED OUT AND BROUGHT TO REGISTRATION
DESK BEFORE PLAYING YOUR FIRST GAME.
A copy of this Roster Waiver
sheet was emailed to all team reps.
You should be able to download, (save), it to your computer, where you
will be able to type in the TEAM NAME and PLAYER NAMES, print it off and
then have your players sign it. You can also just print it off and fill
it in manually. If you get all the signatures
before you arrive, just hand it in when you register.
When you arrive at the rink,
please register at the front desk, where you will
receive a package for your team with any updates and further
information you may need.
Teams needing a change room lock
will be required to leave a $10 deposit, which will be returned when the
key & lock is returned. We ask that you please vacate
your dressing rooms AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
One more reminder that all
participants, MUST BE FIREFIGHTERS, AND PLAY
FOR ONE TEAM ONLY, (Full-time, Retired,
Volunteer). Don't risk forfeiting any games by using
non firefighters. A piece of ID may be required if asked for.
Random checks will be done.
If you have any problems during
the tournament, just look for an executive member, and they will be glad
to help you.
I hope you all have a safe trip
to Toronto, and we look forward to seeing you all on February
28, 2023.
Note: All players and
coaches are personally responsible for all insurance required to play in
the tournament.
Fraternally yours,
Rick Stillaway
