League Rules and Regulations

 

 2023/2024 SEASON

 

1. (A)   Entry fee to be set annually by the executive.  Entry fee this year will be: $600.00 to be paid at the first League meeting.

    (B)   It is the responsibility of each team representative to ensure the Constitution and By-Laws and the Rules and Regulations are strictly adhered to.

2.   All games and league-sponsored tournaments shall be played under Hockey Canada rules with the following exceptions:

A)   Both teams must consist of a minimum of ten skaters at the start of the game to play coincidental penalties. Goaltender is not classified as  a skater.

B)   Each team will be allowed one 30 second time out per game during regular season play.

C)   Referees special incident reports must be filled out and sent to the PRESIDENT for any major incidents and BOTH TEAMS MUST PHONE the President within 24 hours.

D)   Any fighting major penalty is a suspension for that game and the next game.

            1st infraction: That game plus 1

            2nd infraction: That game plus 2

            3rd infraction:  That game plus 4

E)  The League President must receive all appeals in writing within seven (7) days from the notification of the Executive. During the appeal process the named player will not be allowed to play.

3.   Any team deemed responsible for a default will forfeit their fine deposit and pay $200.00 to the non-offending team. The League Executive is to be notified.

4.   Each team has its choice of sweater colours. In the event that both teams are wearing similar colours, it shall be the responsibility of the  HOME TEAM to change sweaters.

5. (A)   A player must play a minimum of three (3) regular season games to be eligible for the playoffs. A team using players illegally shall default the game(s) involved and the points will be awarded to the opposing team(s).

     (B)  Players may move laterally to give a team a maximum of 9 skaters in the regular season only. 

6. (A)  All players are to be Firefighting personnel (current or retired), except upon special permission from the League Executive in cases deemed necessary for the benefit of the League.

    (B)  All players must complete and sign an individual waiver acknowledging they are insured for injury prior to playing their first game. Completed waivers are to be submitted to the Statistician.

7.   Each game shall consist of 3-15 minute stop time periods.  Clock to start 10 minutes after official game time and will not stopped until first whistle. If the clock winds down to 10 minutes and a team is not on the ice the game shall be considered a default.

8.   If a game ends in a tie after regulation time, each team will receive one (1) point.

9.   The style of play is to be kept as clean and sportsmanlike as possible with NO BODY CONTACT.

10.   A player receiving four (4) penalties or 3 stick infraction penalties in one game will be ejected from that game, but may play in the next game.

11.   It is the responsibility of both teams to either phone, text or email the League Statistician with the game score within 24 hours.

12.   All players must wear a C.S.A. approved helmet, and eye protection.  Goalies must wear a facemask and a helmet. (THE EXECUTIVE URGES PLAYERS TO WEAR FULL FACIAL PROTECTION.)

13.   Running time will commence and continue running in the 3rd period for the last 5 minutes if there is a 5 or more goal spread.

14.   All Referees will be assigned and under the jurisdiction of the REFEREE-IN-CHIEF.

15.   In the event of a tie in the final standings:

1)    The team with the best record between the teams shall be the winner.

2)    The team with the most victories wins.

3)    The team with the best goals for/against differential wins.

16.   PLAYOFFS: The top 4 teams will advance to the playoffs.

17. CARHA Insurance is mandatory for all players. ($25 per player)
